"body": "The Supreme Court in February struck down a large portion of additional tariffs, forcing the government to refund the companies that had paid them.\n\nWASHINGTON: The US government has already paid back tens of billions of dollars in tariffs it collected before the Supreme Court ruled them illegal, according to budget figures released Monday.\n\nTariffs -- taxes on imported goods -- have been a key part of President Donald Trump's economic game plan since he took office again last year.\n\nBut in February, the Supreme Court shut down a big chunk of the extra tariffs Trump ordered, forcing the government to return money to the companies that had paid them.\n\nAccording to the budget data, the US has paid out US$81 billion in tariff refunds so far this fiscal year, which started in October 2025, compared to just US$5 billion during the same stretch last year.\n\nA treasury department official told reporters that the spike is almost entirely because of the Supreme Court decision, with most of the refunds happening in May and June.\n\nTrump had pitched the tariffs as a catch-all fix for the economy -- bringing factories back to America, getting better trade deals and closing the deficit in the federal budget.\n\nBut the deficit, which had actually gotten a little smaller last year thanks to the tariff income, is now growing again.\n\nIt hit US$1.367 trillion in the first nine months of the fiscal year, up two percent.\n\nThe US also spent over US$1 trillion just on paying interest on its debt, up 14%, and military spending climbed 5% because of the war in the Middle East.",

"body": "During the WWDC 2026 keynote, Apple surprised the iPhone world... just not in the way you might think.\n\nIn a show full of detailed demonstrations of new features coming to iOS 27, including the new AI-fueled Siri upgrade, one of the biggest surprises involved which iPhones will actually support the new OS update. Rumors ahead of the show indicated that the iPhone 11 lineup would be excluded from software updates this year, effectively forcing obsolescence on anyone who owns an iPhone from that generation.\n\nWell, the rumor mill had this one dead wrong. And now that the iOS 27 public beta is available to download, users with compatible iPhones can try out the new operating system right away. We should note that if you want to try Siri AI, you'll need to follow some additional steps. After downloading the iOS 27, macOS 27 Golden Gate, watchOS 27, iPadOS 27, or visionOS 27 beta, go to Settings, Apple Intelligence & Siri, and join the waitlist.\n\nEvery iPhone that will support iOS 27\n\nBefore we get to the full list, yes, your iPhone 11 model will be able to install iOS 27. Apple made it a point to emphasize this fact during the WWDC keynote. Even in the iPhone 15 family, the base and Plus models will seemingly not support Siri AI, according to Apple's press release.\n\nWhat iPhones will support Siri AI and Apple Intelligence?\n\nWith the new version of iOS, Apple will have a two-tiered system where some people will have iOS 27 with AI, and others will have iOS 27 with a whole lot less AI. "body": "柔佛没有理由拒绝新加坡，也没有必要把两地合作说成谁占谁的便宜。真正的问题是柔佛有没有能力利用自己的位置谈条件。我们提供的不只是便宜土地，而是市场、资源、人力与通往马来西亚的入口。\n\n新加坡总统尚达曼访问马来西亚，马新关系再次被形容为亲密、互信与互利。另一方面，柔新经济特区已经启动，目标是在首5年吸引50项计划，创造两万个技术职位；连接新山武吉查卡与新加坡兀兰北的捷运系统，也预定在2026年杪投入服务，车程大约5分钟。\n\nADVERTISEMENT\n\n地图没有改变，两国之间的经济距离却越来越近。\n\n对柔佛而言，这当然是机会。新加坡缺土地、缺人力，也需要更大的生产腹地；柔佛有土地、能源、港口和较低的营运成本，却需要资本、技术、市场与更高价值的产业。双方靠近，各取所需，看起来正好。投资会进来，工业区会扩大，酒店、物流、零售和专业服务都有生意，拥有土地与产业的人更快看到价值。\n\n柔佛过去常被视为新加坡旁边的州，如今终于有机会成为区域经济的一部分，而不只是一个邻居。\n\n问题是，柔佛经济得到什么，不等于柔佛人都得到什么。\n\n捷运通车后，往返两地会更方便。对每天过境工作的人来说，少塞几个小时，当然是实在的改善。可是交通越方便，也意味着更多柔佛人才可以到新加坡工作。\n\n目前已有约30万柔佛人跨境谋生，汇率与工资差距仍是最直接的吸引力。以后工程师、护士、会计师、技术员，甚至服务业员工，不必再把长时间塞车视为过境的代价，本地企业留人的难度只会更高。\n\n柔佛可能一边宣布高科技投资，一边把训练成熟的人才送到对岸。\n\n错过不再！解锁所有内容\n\n立即订阅 成为普通会员\n\n已是会员？登入\n\nVIP会员的专有特权\n\n若您已是普通会员，现在就升级成为VIP。\n\n普通会员 VIP VVIP 星洲网平台内容 星洲公开活动 礼品/优惠 会员文 VIP文 特邀活动/特级优惠 电子报（全国11份地方版） 报纸 成为会员\n\n按此升级\n\n按此升级\n\n个人选择高工资没有错，不能要求年轻人为了\"爱柔佛\"而少赚几倍。真正应该检讨的是，当州政府给外资土地、税务、水电与快速审批，本地职位的工资有没有同步提高？\n\n经济特区提出两万个技术职位，重点不能只是职位存在，还要看谁获得职位、薪资多少、有没有晋升空间。\n\n若所谓高价值产业最后只留下少数管理层与专业职位，大部分柔佛人仍做低薪支援工作，经济特区再大，也只是资本的特区。\n\n马新靠近后，最先变化的往往也不是工资，而是资产价格。靠近捷运站、经济特区与工业走廊的住宅，已经成为投资市场的卖点。\n\n房东看到新加坡员工、外派人员和跨境租客，租金自然往上调；发展商看到新需求，房子也会越建越贵。拥有房产的人欢迎升值，租屋者却要承担\"繁荣的费用\"。收入还没有增加，租金已经上涨；新工作还没有出现，原本的居民先被逼到更远的地方。\n\n柔佛房地产市场确实因捷运与经济特区获得更大关注，但部分地区也仍面对供应过剩，说明房价上涨未必来自真正的居住需求，也可能夹杂投机。\n\n外资进入也不必然等于本地企业壮大。大型公司可以带来订单，却也会抢人、抢地、抢电，推高办公室、厂房和员工成本。\n\n若设备从国外进口，主要承包商来自外地，高薪专家由总部派来，本地中小企业得到的可能只剩清洁、保安、运输和餐饮合约。\n\n土地是柔佛的，资源是柔佛提供的，利润却未必留在柔佛。招商不能只问企业准备投资多少，也要问它准备向本地采购多少、培训多少柔佛人，又会把多少技术留下来。\n\n更现实的是，人口和商业活动增加以后，道路、医院、学校、排水、垃圾处理与公共交通都要承担压力。\n\n一个地区的公寓和商业楼可以很快建起来，诊所、学校与道路却不会自动出现。州政府若只计算投资带来的税收，却没有计算城市扩张的社会成本，最后就是企业享受优惠，居民承担塞车、水灾、租金上涨与公共设施不足。\n\n发展看起来属于大家，代价却总是先落在附近的人身上。\n\n国阵在州选赢得48席，得到的是一个强得不能再强的执政条件。接下来，柔佛政府不能只用投资总额证明马新合作成功，而应公布经济特区创造的实际职位、工资中位数、本地聘用率、本地采购比例，以及热点地区的租金和房价变化。\n\n大型投资获批时，也应同步规划可负担租赁房屋、职工宿舍、学校、诊所与接驳交通。权力越集中，越不能只报喜。\n\n柔佛没有理由拒绝新加坡，也没有必要把两地合作说成谁占谁的便宜。\n\n真正的问题是柔佛有没有能力利用自己的位置谈条件。我们提供的不只是便宜土地，而是市场、资源、人力与通往马来西亚的入口。\n\n合作可以互利，但互利从来不会自然发生，它要靠政府争取，也要靠制度分配。\n\n马新越来越近，列车会更快，资本会更多，房价可能更高，城市也会更繁忙。\n\n可是对一般柔佛人而言，最重要的不是5分钟能不能抵达新加坡，而是不必去新加坡，也能不能在柔佛获得一份有前途的工作；不是房子升值多少，而是自己的孩子以后还租不租得起；不是来了多少外资，而是发展之后，柔佛是否仍是柔佛人能够生活的地方。\n\n否则，两地越靠近，柔佛人得到的也许不是更多的选择，而是更贵的生活，以及一条更方便离开柔佛的路。",
